ILLOCANA
"ILLOCANA" (ee-loh-kah-nah) combines ill as in “cool” and Ilocana, the name of women indigenous to the coastal Ilocos region in the Philippines, as a homage to founder Katrina Taeza’s upbringing as a Filipino-American in Queens, New York. Katrina’s love of fashion was nurtured by her lola (grandmother) since she was a child, bolstered by the world around her as she grew up: NYC strangers and friends, archive fashion blogs on Tumblr, and her own queerness.
